Christopher Sinckler Alternate Executive Director Canada Ireland Caribbean World Bank Group


Christopher Peter Sinckler, a national of Barbados, currently serves as Alternate Executive Director for Antigua & Barbuda,The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Canada, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Ireland, Jamaica, St. Lucia, St. Kitts & Nevis and St. Vincent & the Grenadines at the World Bank Group since May 2, 2022.

Mr. Sinckler is an International Trade and Development Specialist with over 25 years of experience working in public, private and civil society sectors in Barbados, the Caribbean and wider afield. He is the Former Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs of Barbados from 2010 to 2018, when he served as Governor for the World Bank, IMF, Inter-American Development Bank and the Caribbean Development Bank; Minister of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment, Urban and Rural Development, 2008-2010, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and International Business, 2008. He was also Leader of Government Business in the House of Assembly of Barbados from 2008-2010.

Immediately before joining the World Bank, Mr. Sinckler was the lead consultant with the Tachenico Consultants Inc., a private consultancy advisory service and serves as CPDC’s Consultant Policy Advisor on Debt Relief and Development Finance Architecture Reform.

Prior to this, Mr. Sinckler served as Executive Coordinator of the Caribbean Policy Development Centre (CPDC), the leading Policy Advocacy and Development Policy NGO in the Caribbean from 1999 to 2007.

Mr. Sinckler holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Political Science, and a Master of Science Degree in International Trade Policy from the University of the West Indies.
