Anne Bakilana is the World Bank Program Leader for Human Development for Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia and Uganda. Ms Bakilana, who is based in Nairobi, oversees all aspects of the four countries’ Education, Health and Social Protection work program and portfolio. She joined the Bank in 2003 as a Young Professional and has held various positions including, a Program Leader and a Senior Economist in Europe and Central Asia and in the Africa region. She has 20 years’ experience and technical expertise as an economist in Human Development. Prior to joining the World Bank, she was a Senior Lecturer at the School of Economics, University of Cape Town. Ms Bakilana, a Tanzanian national, holds a Masters and PHD in Demography from London School of Economics, and a BSc in Economics from University College London.
