Anne Bakilana


Anne Margreth Bakilana is the Operations Manager for the Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, and Uganda Country Management Unit (CMU) based in Nairobi, Kenya.

Her most recent assignment was Program Leader for Human Development where she coordinated the Education, Health and Social Protection portfolio in Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, and Uganda. She supported the Bank’s team responsible for delivering the analytical and operational work program. She played a strong role contributing to setting the strategic direction of the Bank program and overseeing its effective implementation, with a focus on client engagement, operational delivery, fostering collaboration across Global Practices and contributing to building and strengthening the country team. Ms. Bakilana, a Tanzanian national, joined the Bank in 2003 as a Young Professional and a Senior Lecturer at the School of Economics, University of Cape Town.

Ms. Bakilana’s roles include (i) oversee all aspects of the CMU’s work program (lending, ASA, and active portfolio), including portfolio quality assurance and portfolio implementation; (ii) support the CMU in the formulation of Country Strategic Products and Performance and Learning Review (CPFs and PLRs); (iii) assist with the management and operation of the Kenya country office.
