Ali Ibrahim Gur, a national of Türkiye, has been serving as the Alternate Executive Director for the World Bank Group representing Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Hungary, Kosovo, Luxembourg, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, and Türkiye since November 2024.

Prior to his appointment to the World Bank Group Board, Mr. Gur held several senior roles within the Ministry of Treasury and Finance of Türkiye. He served as the Deputy Director General of Economic Programs and Research and was the Head of the Department of Macro-economic Modeling and Forecasting from 2013 to 2024. In these capacities, he spearheaded policy-oriented economic research, focusing on the principal policies influencing the performance of major sectors within the Turkish economy. 

He was instrumental in conducting meetings of the Economy Coordination Board, which serves as the premier body for economic policymaking in Türkiye from 2014 to 2018. Mr. Gur was the chief delegate of Türkiye to the Economic Policy Committee (EPC) of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) during the period from 2021 to 2022.  

In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Gur has contributed significantly to shaping the economic landscape through his expertise and leadership. His extensive experience in economic policy and research has had a profound impact on the formulation and implementation of key economic strategies within Türkiye and beyond.  

Mr. Gur obtained his B.A. in Economics from Koc University, Istanbul, where he served as a teaching assistant for statistics, econometrics, and applied econometrics.
