    Lighting up Bangladesh’s rural communities With IDA support, the rural electrification project provided 630,000 connections to the national grid and in remote rural areas, where grid electricity is not economically viable, the project established Solar Home Systems, as a cost-effective alternative for electrification.     3 Million More Girls in Secondary Schools The Bangladesh Female Secondary School Assistance Program, financed by the International Development Association (IDA), has increased overall girl’s enrollment in secondary schools in Bangladesh to over 4 million in 2006 from 1.1 million in 1991. Girls’ pass rates soared. Secondary School Certificate pass rates for girls in the project area increased from 39 percent in 2001 to 63 percent in 2008. Read More »
