Social Development Policies

August 12, 2013

A number of World Bank operational policies deal specifically with social development concerns. These include the social safeguard policies, aimed at minimizing the negative impact of Bank-funded operations on vulnerable groups (displaced populations and indigenous peoples). The Conflict and Development policy provides guidance on Bank assistance to conflict-affected countries. The Gender policy provides guidance on Bank assistance to member countries in their efforts to reduce poverty and enhance economic growth and human well-being by addressing gender disparities and inequalities. For more information on the Bank's operational policies, refer to the World Bank Operational Manual.
