Jim Yong Kim: Hurdles ahead for ‘Best Story in the World’

October 8, 2015

The announcement that extreme poverty is likely to fall this year to under 10% was called the “best story in the world” by World Bank Group President Jim Yong Kim, but he added that ending poverty is made difficult by slowed global growth, pending interest rate hikes, and the continued flight of capital out of emerging markets. Kim spoke at the opening press conference of the World Bank Group-International Monetary Fund Annual Meetings in Lima, Peru.
