The Ghana portfolio comprises $1.626 billion in 26 projects, with a disbursed amount that has been increasing since FY09. In FY11, $386.2 million was disbursed, the sixth largest amount of the International Development Association (IDA), and reached $342.9 million in fiscal year 2012, a country record. Regional projects reflect Ghana’s role as a hub in West Africa, with a regional portfolio of eight projects of nearly $752 million in transport, energy, trade facilitation and agriculture. An IDA guarantee helped the completion of the West Africa Gas Pipeline which connects Nigeria’s gas resources to Benin, Togo and Ghana, lowering energy production costs in Ghana.
