Dr. Feng Zhao is the Program Leader for World Bank’s Human Development programs in Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine, and he also is the Task Team Leader for the Ukraine Serving People, Improve Health project. Dr. Zhao has worked extensively on Europe, African, Middle East and Asia regions.
From 2011 to 2014, he served as the Health Sector Manager at the African Development Bank (AfDB), where he was responsible for health operations in 54 Sub-Saharan African and Middle East and North Africa countries. Before he joined the AfDB in 2011, he was the Senior Health Specialist for the World Bank’s Africa Region.
From 2009 to 2011 Dr.Zhao undertook a field assignment in Ethiopia, where he also served as Chair of the Health Development Partner Group.
His pre-Bank experience includes a range of organizations from academia to government agencies. In particular, before he moved to Beijing to manage the Bank’s health projects as part of the Ministry of Health in 1994, Dr.Zhao led a public health program in one of the largest provinces in China with a population of 100 million.
Dr. Zhao possesses a Ph.D in population and health economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health, a Master of Public Health from University of California at Berkeley, and a Medical Degree from China.
He serves as a faculty member for a number of universities, including being a lecturer for the Harvard Finance Minister Executive Leadership Program.
