  • Ten years ago The World Bank embarked on a journey with our friends at the Institute for the Future (IFTF) to explore ways to provide young people with direction and purpose to solve challenges we anticipated they might face over the next ten years (2020). IFTF posited that two of those challenges might come in the form of ongoing wildfires (on the west coast of the U.S.) and a pandemic (originating in China). That’s remarkable. In the ten years of this journey -- under the Evoke moniker -- we made several discoveries, among them: many future challenges can be foreseen, children can be taught and incented to meet local and global challenges, blockchain technologies will become an increasingly critical means to improve educational outcomes and assessments, and developing countries will be a source of answers to our most pressing problems.

On Thursday, December 17, we will share some lessons learned and our latest iteration on the use of Blockchain technology to incentivize 21st century skills and create transparent exchange of value in an education system. We are also looking for your input on what the next ten years holds for the role of technology in education and the engagement of youth to foresee and address new challenges including the unique role that blockchain technology can be used to empower these youth. To that end, our gathering will be in part interactive and in part discussion. Please do join us.
