Canada is an important shareholder and partner for the World Bank Group.  It holds 2.49% of voting power in IBRD, where it is represented by an Executive Director appointed by the government. Canada has been a donor to the International Development Association (IDA), the World Bank’s fund for the poorest countries, since the IDA’s founding.
Canada works with the entire World Bank Group (IBRD/IDA, IFC, and MIGA).  It is one of the largest donors to IFC trust funds and supports IFC programs focusing on climate action, gender equality, food security, and investment climate reform.  Its engagement with MIGA includes selective business development for private equity funds and pension investing in emerging countries, with a focus on the Energy, Mining and Infrastructure sectors.
