Denmark
BY THE NUMBERS: DENMARK
OVERVIEW: DENMARK
Denmark is an important and longstanding member and partner of the World Bank Group. It is represented by an Executive Director shared with other Nordic and Baltic countries.
Denmark has been actively engaged with the World Bank since 1946, when it became one of the first countries to receive a loan to support post-war reconstruction. Today, Denmark is a member of all five institutions of the World Bank Group as they work together to finance projects, design policies, and deliver programs that address global development challenges.
The Nordic Baltic Desk at the World Bank’s Paris Office promotes collaboration between Denmark and the World Bank Group, supporting outreach activities and fostering relationships with Danish stakeholders including government, civil society, academia, and the private sector.
Denmark hosts the Joint Data Center on Forced Displacement (JDC), a partnership between the World Bank and UNHCR that strengthens the global evidence base on forced displacement.
Denmark’s commitment to development is reflected in its support for co-financing, trust funds, and joint analytical work with the World Bank Group in regions and sectors of shared interest.
