On 29–30 April 2026, World Bank Group President Ajay Banga met with ministers and representatives gathered in Reykjavík for the annual Nordic-Baltic Governors’ meeting. The Nordic and Baltic states form a joint constituency within the World Bank Group, sharing a seat on the Board of Executive Directors. 

Discussions centered on support for Ukraine, reconstruction efforts in Gaza, and job creation in developing countries, reaffirming the strong partnership between the World Bank Group and the Nordic-Baltic countries.  

While in Iceland, President Banga and several of the representatives joined a field visit to Grindavík and the Svartsengi Geothermal Power Plant, hosted by Iceland's Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Daði Már Kristófersson.
