The World Bank and the Agency for Strategic Initiatives held their third joint webinar of the “Strategic Talks” webinar series on the subject of “The impact of the pandemic on global education systems”. The series was established in response to the COVID-19 crisis. The pandemic has affected all areas of socio-economic activity, and education is no exception. Since the pandemic took hold, countries all over the world have enacted immediate response measures in the education system; there are advantages and disadvantages in each approach. It is important to understand how decisions taken during the pandemic will affect the development of the education system in the medium term, as well how they will affect students in their later life. During the webinar, international and Russian experts discussed these issues and presented analysis of international approaches and the Russian experience, including that of the Russian regions. Participants discussed how education systems have been adapted, how effective these measures have been and what other measures need to be considered going forward.
