Financial Cooperatives and Financial Inclusion: Challenges and Risks

This workshop is organized by the World Bank, in collaboration with Rabobank, the International Credit Union Regulators’ Network (ICURN) and the Consultative Group to Assist the Poor (CGAP).  The objective of the workshop is to:

  • Contribute to the exchange of knowledge and lessons learned in recent efforts to foster the development of Financial Cooperatives (FCs).
  • Contribute to the development of a set of “guiding principles” to strengthen financial cooperative sectors as well as to enhance applicable regulations, oversight schemes and safety nets.
  • Assess the impact and role of new technologies on FC sectors and their oversight.

The workshop will start with a plenary session, followed by three breakout sessions, a closing session and a networking event.
