Mehwish Ashraf is the Senior Country Economist for Fiji and Tuvalu, based in Suva, and leads the macroeconomic policy and structural reform dialogue with the authorities.
She joined the Bank as a consultant in 2011 and has worked as a country economist in two regions, South Asia and West Africa, across a wide range of topics. Her most recent assignment was as The Gambia Country Economist based in Banjul. Her regional experience includes working in Maldives, Afghanistan, Nigeria and Nepal. Prior to joining the Bank, she worked at the debt office of the Ministry of Finance, Government of Pakistan.
A Pakistan national, Ashraf holds a master’s degree in business administration from Quaid-e-Azam University in Islamabad, Pakistan.
