For years, KickStart helped fund and set up water pumps to irrigate Kenya’s dry climate farms. But the power for these pumps cost a lot in either manual labor or in buying traditional fuels. Now, with the help of the Climate Innovation Center, solar power is replacing outdated energy sources. KickStart International is one of the 270 green enterprises supported by the World Bank's Climate Technology Program, an initiative powered by the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID), Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (Australian Aid), Denmark’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (DANIDA), Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Netherlands’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
