As part of World Bank's efforts to support Government of Vietnam advance disaster risk finance and insurance initiatives, the Disaster Risk Financing and Insurance Program and the World Bank Tokyo DRM Hub, in partnership with Government of Japan organized a knowledge exchange and exposure visit from July 31 – August 5, 2017, inviting leaders from Vietnam Ministry of Finance (VMOF), Office of the Government, Vietnam National Assembly, and National Institution for Vietnam Finance to Japan.
This provided the Japanese and Vietnamese participants with the opportunity to share experiences and good practices, learn lessons, and discuss challenges and solutions for disaster risk finance and management
Building on the key take-aways, Vietnamese MOF plans to host the Vietnam Finance Conference, at which solutions to enhance public asset management system including financial risk management against natural disasters will be discussed. This event will allow the Vietnamese MOF to raise awareness of this agenda—including lessons learned from Japan’s experience—with wider stakeholders in Vietnam.
