The Tokyo Development Learning Center (TDLC) took part in the 3rd International Conference on Urban and Regional Planning (ICURP 2023), hosted by the Bangladesh Institute of Planners (BIP) in Dhaka, Bangladesh, from September 23 to 25, 2023.

A team of Japanese experts specializing in urban planning, public transportation-oriented development (TOD), and solid waste management shared their knowledge of integrated urban planning methods in Japanese cities, highlighting Shibuya City as an example of good practice. Also discussed was the Japanese legal system and Tokyo’s waste management process—from initial sorting to final disposal.

Around 150 individuals with diverse backgrounds participated in the session including workshop participants from the World Bank's Resilient Urban and Regional Development Project (RUTDP), Bangladeshi government officials, local government officials, academics, and international aid organizations. The audience showed great interest in learning about Japan's urban development initiatives.
