WASHINGTON, May 5 – Today, World Bank Group President David Malpass met with Tunisian Minister of Finance, Economy, and Investment Support Ali Kooli. President Malpass and Minister Kooli discussed recently approved World Bank Group operations to finance vaccines and social safety nets, with President Malpass underscoring the need for ratification of projects so that amounts can be quickly dispersed.
President Malpass and Minister Kooli also discussed the broader Tunisian economy. President Malpass emphasized the need for all stakeholders in the Tunisian government to come together and implement urgently needed reforms that address structural weaknesses in the economy. President Malpass noted that, as co-convenor of Tunisia’s Budget Support Platform, the World Bank Group is ready to help Tunisia on the road to economic recovery.
