World Bank Announces Private Placement of SwF 300 Million 5-Year Notes

The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (World Bank) has offered a private placement of Swiss Franc Notes, totaling SwF 300 million (about US$ 137.3 million) in Switzerland through a syndicate of leading Swiss banks and a group of foreign banks domiciled in Switzerland. The notes have been issued at par. The Underwriting group is managed by Swiss Bank Corporation, Union Bank of Switzerland and Credit Suisse as co-managers.

The new private placement, to be known as the Swiss Franc Notes of 1984, due 1989, w111 mature on January 4, 1989. Interest will be payable annually on January 4.

This will be the thirty-first private placement of the World Bank in Switzerland and will bring the total amount of private placements there by the World Bank to SwF 7,252 million. Following the full repayment of 12 issues, the principal amount of its outstanding 19 private placements, including the current issue, totals SwF 4,550 million.
