World Bank Announces Placement of $170.86 Million 2-Year Bond Issue

The World Bank announced the placement of a $170,860,000 issue of U.S. dollar bonds maturing September 15, 1973 in markets outside the United States. The bonds were purchased by central banks and other governmental institutions of 50 different countries and by one international organization. Such purchasers will now hold $720,360,000 of World Bank Two-year Bonds.

The new World Bank bonds, known as "Two Year Bonds of 1971, due September 15, 1973", bear interest at 6-1/2% per annum, payable semiannually. The issue was sold at par.

The new bonds will be delivered September 15, 1971. A $175,000,000 bond issue placed outside the United States with similar purchasers in September 1969 will mature on September 15, 1971.
