Peru fights against poverty from its jails

With an occupancy rate of 224% in its prisons, Peru faces a major challenge to achieve the reintegration of its inmates. In the Workshop School of Quencoro, in Cusco, more than 800 inmates make handicrafts that are the main source of income for many families in the poorest regions of the country. The World Bank, through a pilot project, has trained 80 of them to develop skills that facilitates their return to the labor market.
