With the help of a loan from the Sudan Microfinance Project (SMDF), entrepreneurs throughout Kassala State have started independent businesses to produce an array of household goods including cement bricks and plastic woven beds. The SMDF is funded through the Multi-Donor Trust Fund-National (MDTF-N), a means for donor countries to contribute to the reconstruction and development needs of war-torn areas in Sudan. Funding for the MDTF-N ends June 30, 2013.
