  • The next Global Parliamentary Conference and the Parliamentary Working Session on Youth Jobs Creation will take place on April 16-17, 2018 at the World Bank Group headquarters in Washington DC. This year's agenda focuses on investing in human capital; policies to empower women and girls; fragility, conflict and violence; and good governance.

The Global Parliamentary Conference is the Parliamentary Network’s flagship event, co-organized by the World Bank Group and the IMF. This annual milepost on the international development calendar is the only parliamentary conference where nearly 200 legislators can directly engage with World Bank Group President Dr. Jim Yong Kim and IMF Managing Director Madame Christine Lagarde regarding today’s most pressing development issues.

The Parliamentary Working Session on Youth Jobs Creation will bring in experts in the field of job creation to work alongside parliamentarians in proposing concrete legislation to address the youth jobs crisis. Young people account for nearly 40% of the world’s unemployed, and one in every three young people is not in education, employment or training. The situation only risks getting worse in the next 10 years as more than 1 billion young people enter the job market, creating the need for an estimated 5 million jobs per month just to maintain current employment levels in the developing world. The Global Parliamentary Conference and Parliamentary Working Session on Youth Jobs Creation are the opportunity for elected representatives and experts to find solutions together.

Register for the Global Parliamentary Conference by March 30, here. Registrations after this date will depend on availability.
