Khalid Bawazier, Saudi Arabia national is the Executive Director of the World Bank Group since November 2022. He joined the office as Alternate Executive Director of the World Bank Group since December 2021.
Khalid is a Finance and Accounting expert who has more than 17 years of experience in Financial Accounting, Hedging Transactions, Investment Transactions execution and Governance design, Financial Planning and Budgeting and Tax Accounting,. During his career at Saudi Aramco, Khalid worked in several major projects and tasks such as: being the authoritative and Polices lead for Financial and Accounting (~300 policies); member of Saudi Arabia’S Value Added Tax (VAT) execution committee; led Saudi Aramco Value Added Tax (VAT) implementation project; revamped the Corporate Governance Approval Authority framework; reviewed and validated policy guidance for Saudi Aramco IPO Accounting readiness decision papers; Finance lead in Law Global Corporate Compliance project; co-lead Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) Tax implementation and compliance; and ensure corporate compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for all business transactions.
Khalid has an interest in investment accounting and reporting, ESG Investment reporting and the future of the financial technologies - in specific FinTech and Blockchain.
