  • A Webinar on ‘Testing the use of blockchain to build a meta-registry for decentralized climate markets’ was delivered showcasing the findings from the simulation as a first step towards exploring the potential of blockchain for sharing and tracking climate markets data across systems and building trust in decentralized climate markets.   • The World Bank and Japan's Ministry of Environment will collaborate on the Joint Crediting Mechanism, to support the establishment of climate markets and carbon pricing, through the World Bank’s programs such as Partnership for Market Readiness successor program, Innovate4Climate, Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition, and Climate Warehouse.
  • A workshop was held at Innovate4Climate (the World Bank’s flagship global event on climate finance, climate investment and climate markets) in June 2019 which presented piloting activities and capacity building initiatives related to Article 6 of the Paris Agreement carried out by European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the World Bank, and the Asian Development Bank (ADB)
  • The World Bank is supporting Chile’s Ministry of Energy to achieve low-emission energy sector goals, provide a replicable framework for generating mitigation outcomes, and demonstrate the important role climate markets will play under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
  • The World Bank hosted a side event titled “Carbon Pricing and Markets in the Asia-Pacific” at the Asia Pacific Climate Week 2019 on Tuesday, September 3. The agenda is available here.
