Afghanistan Urban Water Supply Project

In Afghanistan, more than 90 percent of residents of western Herat City have now access to clean drinking water. They now enjoy access to potable water 24 hours a day, decreasing the risk of contracting water-related diseases. Clean drinking water across Afghanistan remains a challenge, however. Nonetheless, the Afghanistan Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Corporation, with assistance from the World Bank and partners, has made significant progress in increasing access to potable water.
