On January 28th, 2010 a conference on "Public Private Partnerships in the Health Sector" organized by Mr. Adam Struzik, Marshal of the Mazowieckie Voivodship and the World Bank Office in Warsaw was held at the premises of the Office of the Marshal. The World Bank presented its experience and best practice examples of public private partnerships in the health sector and the role and enagagement of the World Bank in Poland. Polish case studies of district hospitals in Zywiec and Wrzesnia were presented as examples of this innovative approach to financing at the regional level in Poland as well as international examples from Europe and Latin America. The discussion centered around the next steps for a succesful implementation of the PPP concept in Poland, on how to avoid problems and pitfalls and learn from best practices.
