World Bank Vice President for Latin America and the Caribbean, Hasan Tuluy, has expressed his solidarity with Guatemala following the devastating earthquake that shook the country last Wednesday November 7, which affected much of the Pacific coast of Central America, and left more than 50 dead, so far.
Amid the grief for lives lost, and the extensive damage left by one of the worst natural disasters experienced by Guatemala in recent years, Tuluy has reaffirmed the World Bank's commitment to help in whatever is needed in the affected areas for rapid recovery.
"I wish to reiterate our full support and our readiness to cooperate with your Government in the tasks that can be useful," said Tuluy in a letter addressed to the president of Guatemala, Otto Perez Molina.
The World Bank representative in the country, Oscar Avalle, has offered the Guatemalan Government all the Bank knowledge and expertise on disaster risk management.
