Beijing, September 24, 2012Pamela Cox, the World Bank’s new Vice President for East Asia and the Pacific, is visiting China from September 22 to 26.

In Anhui Province, Cox visited World Bank-supported projects focusing on reforestation, eco-farming and village infrastructure and livelihoods and she met with local people benefiting from these projects.

During her visit, she will also meet with government officials to discuss ways to further strengthen the Bank’s cooperation with China, by supporting greener growth and promoting more inclusive development.

“China’s success in lifting people out of poverty over the last three decades has been remarkable,” said Cox. “The World Bank is committed to supporting China as it manages its development challenges - adjusting to a cleaner and greener growth model addressing inequality and providing opportunities for all Chinese.”
