Launch: Economic Update for Europe and Central Asia - Migration and Mobility

The World Bank, together with the Institute for Structural Research and the Centre of Migration Research, is hosting an international conference to launch the latest World Bank Economic Update for Europe and Central Asia, titled Migration and Mobility in the Europe and Central Asia Region

  • During the conference, Hans Timmer, Chief Economist of the World Bank’s Europe and Central Asia region, will give a presentation on migration and mobility – two factors that play a vital role in the economic, political, and social dynamics of the countries in this region. 

    Over the years, the region has seen changes in the drivers, nature, and intensity of migration, a broad phenomenon that has had an integral impact on the societies in the region.

    The conference will be an opportunity to discuss, among other things, the benefits and challenges of migration for host and origin countries in the region. Speakers will include Piotr Lewandowski, Institute for Structural Research, and Pawel Kaczmarczyk, Center of Migration Research.
