Myanmar: Agricultural Development Support Project Public Consultations
February 3-10, 2015Bago East, Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay, Sagaing, Yangon

The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation of Myanmar (MOAI) organized the public consultation meetings between February 3 and 10, 2015 to inform and consult with the public and stakeholders on the Agricultural Development Support Project (ADSP). The project is funded by the World Bank.

The project seeks to increase crop yields and cropping intensity in the selected existing irrigation systems in Bago East, Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay, and Sagaing regions. This will be achieved through improved irrigation and drainage management and complementary farm advisory and technical services. The regions selected for the project have a large number of poor estimated at 34 percent of all poor in Myanmar, and they account for 80 percent of the existing gravity irrigation systems in the country. The direct project beneficiaries will be farm households in selected existing irrigation schemes.
