Inchul Hwang, a Korean national, is a Senior Energy Specialist based in Songdo, Korea office. Prior to joining the Bank, Inchul held several roles of operating energy efficiency and renewable energy policies at a national agency (Korea Energy Agency). He collaborated with international clients of the Bank and other international agencies and local governments on various projects such as energy efficiency standard & labeling in Cambodia and other ASEAN countries; energy audit in Bangladesh and LAC region. He also has an expertise on climate change with his service as a Korean delegate to UNFCCC meetings on carbon market and technology transfer, together with his experience of validating and verifying CDM projects in Asia.
His top priorities are to (i) support technical and economic analyses of energy projects, preparation and supervision of various EE and RE projects; (ii) support the promotion of smart grid projects; (iii) support the enhancement of utilities’ performance by providing capacity building. He will solidify and deepen the World Bank’s collaboration with Korean institutions and experts on green energy innovation in line with Korea’s Energy Transition policy.
He holds a master in Energy and Earth Resources from University of Texas at Austin and a bachelor in Business Administration from Korea University.
