Catarina Portelo

Catarina Portelo is a Senior Counsel at the Latin America and the Caribbean Legal Department. She joined the Bank in 2005 and from 2010-2016 she was decentralized in the WB Brazil country office. She has joined the WB Lima office in 2017 as country lawyer for Bolivia, Ecuador, Chile, Peru, and Venezuela. Currently, she oversees Chile, Ecuador, and Peru, where she covers a broad portfolio within different Global Practices/sectors and provides legal advice to the preparation and supervision of WB operations in the mentioned countries.

Before joining the Bank Catarina was an Associate Attorney at the Corporate Law Department of Cuatrecasas Abogados in Lisbon and an International Associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, New York.

She holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Georgetown University Law Center and a  Master in European Law and a Law Degree from the Portuguese Catholic Universit.
