Global Health Programs, Millennium Development Goals, and the World Bank's Role

IEG 's case study, Global Health Programs, Millennium Development Goals, and the World Bank's Role, is a synthesis evaluation of six global health programs in which the World Bank is involved:
  • Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR; started in 1975)
  • UNAIDS (1996)
  • Global Forum for Health Research (Global Forum; 1997)
  • Roll Back Malaria (RBM; 1998)
  • Stop TB Partnership (1999)
  • Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI; 1999).

The Independent Evaluation Group (IEG) is an independent unit within the World Bank; it reports directly to the Bank's Board of Executive Directors. The goals of IEG 's evaluations are to draw lessons from Bank experience, and to provide an objective basis for assessing the results of the Bank's work.
