Several regions in Kazakhstan have been selected by the Ministry of Health and Social Development for a pilot program on chronic disease management. Central to this initiative is secondary prevention, which aims to reduce the impact of disease by detecting and treating disease as early as possible, in order to halt or slow its progress. Secondary prevention also includes encouraging personal initiatives to prevent recurrence and complications, and implementing programs to manage disease and return people to good health.
