Description: Lesotho’s mountainous terrain has made it hard for residents to travel between communities, and access goods and services quickly and safely. In the South East of the country, nearly 2000 meters above sea level, a road project in an area called Qacha’s Neck, has brought communities together, made river crossings simple, and opened the door for tourism to a once inaccessible place.

The new South-Eastern Corridor provides both easier and faster connections for communities in and around the Qacha’s Neck region of Lesotho to the country’s capital, Maseru, while tourists now have easy access to major tourism spots in this Region. The new road is the result of a transport project led by the Government of Lesotho with funding and technical support for the new bridges over the Senqu and Senqunyane Rivers provided by the International Development Association, the World Bank’s fund for the world’s poorest countries.
