Through the support of the World Bank Group, trade in Lao PDR made significant gains: the country became the 158th member of the World Trade Organization in 2013, revised laws and standards to improve trade facilitation, and produced a website (the Laos Trade Portal) that made it easier for traders to get the information they need for importing and exporting goods.
Vice Minister Khemmani Pholsena from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, talks about the success of the Lao PDR Trade Development Facility Project, a multi-donor trust fund administered by the World Bank.
