In response to media reporting regarding the World Bank-financed roads project, the World Bank would like to issue a clarification. The Lifeline Road Network Improvement Project only finances rehabilitation of lifeline roads within Armenia.
The World Bank-financed Lifeline Road Network Improvement Project (LRNIP), launched in 2009, aims to improve access to markets and social services for people living in rural areas of Armenia through the rehabilitation of 350 km of lifeline roads. The project’s total amount is US$101.6 million and the latest financing provided by the Bank for this project was the additional financing in the amount of US$40 million approved by the Board of Directors in July 2015.
