Report Life Event - Reinstatement of a Child for Dependency Allowance

 

Summary

Staff must immediately report any life events or changes in household status within 60 days of the life event, even if the supporting documents are not immediately available. Staff must follow up with the outstanding information once it is available.

Reinstatement of a child who has not reached the age of 25 but who has resumed full-time student status is subject to review and approval by HR Operations.

Report the event to HR Operations within 60 days of commencement of child’s full-time student status.

Supporting documentation and information to be provided are:

  • Letter from the child’s academic institution confirming full-time student status and the commencement date of the child’s attendance.
  • Confirmation that you are providing principal support for the child.

Attention:

Children who have been inactivated as your dependent under Staff Rule 06.02 Dependency (Tax Equivalency) Allowances will have to be added again as your Medical Insurance Plan (MIP) dependent during the next open enrollment period.

Review submitted documentation to determine the child’s eligibility for World Bank Group benefits.

Send an email to the staff member confirming that the child’s status has been reinstated.

  • If your child is arriving from outside the U.S., request for a G4 visa.
  • If applicable—for example, you are a U.S. citizen receiving a tax allowance—update your Form 70 Tax Allowance Certificate through myHR Self-Service.
