Irene Portabales is a Transport Specialist at the World Bank. She joined the Bank in early 2014 as Operations Analyst in the Transport and ICT for Latin America and the Caribbean division. After almost two years she joined the Peruvian office where she supports projects related to urban transport, sustainable mobility and public-private partnerships in the Andean region.
Irene is passionate about finding innovative ways to foster economic and social development through transportation infrastructure. She is a Civil Engineer specializing in Urban Planning, holds a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences and a Master's Degree in International Business Management. Before joining the Bank she worked in the private sector, in the areas of consultancy and construction; as well as in the Foreign Trade Institute of Spain (ICEX, for its acronym in Spanish) specialized in the Engineering and Infrastructure sectors.
