Christoph Pusch

Practice Manager, South Asia - Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management

Christoph Pusch is the World Bank's Practice Manager for South Asia - Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management. Previously, he led the Disaster Risk Management Practice Group in Africa, as well as the World Bank’s Global Expert Team on Disaster Risk Management. During his career at the World Bank Group, which he joined in 1998, he designed and oversaw the implementation of a disaster risk management portfolio of about US$3 billion in the Europe and Central Asia and South Asia regions. This included the preparation of multi-sector damage and needs assessments and emergency recovery loans in response to catastrophic events such as Marmara Earthquake in Turkey, Asian Tsunami in Sri Lanka and India, and Pakistan Earthquake, large scale risk mitigation programs in India, as well as advisory services to the Government of China immediately after the Wenchuan earthquake.

Prior to joining the Africa Region in April 2013, he was the Deputy-Manager of the Bank’s Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR).
