Three aspects of development -- per-capita income, state capabilities, and (the absence of) political violence -- are correlated at the country level. The lecture will discuss a framework for explaining such connections and will discuss the policy implications behind these development patterns. It will also relate the work to recent debates about the role of institutions and policies generated using Randomized Control Trials (RCTs).
The event will be streamed live online at World Bank Live.
