The Twelfth Annual International Seminar on Policy Challenges for the Financial Sector: "Raising the Bar – Implementing Higher Standards for the Financial Sector" is a joint seminar hosted by the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, the International Monetary Fund, and the World Bank. The event brings together 100 senior banking sector authorities from around the world.
The focus of this year's seminar is on the substantive content of the new set of prudential standards applicable to financial institutions and markets following the global financial crisis, the challenges that authorities face in implementing these reforms, and their possible impact on financial institutions and markets. The seminar provides a forum for policy makers to come together with practitioners, both public and private, to discuss the effectiveness, practicality, and impact of the new prudential rules and the balance among new rules, more intense supervision, and strengthened bank resolution arrangements. The seminar provides a great forum to exchange country experiences and how well solutions have worked.
