Jacques Morisset became the Lead Economist for Tanzania, Burundi and Uganda in August 2011. He is based in Tanzania. With over 20 years of experience in economic development, Morisset has worked on four continents as country economist, private sector specialist and regional manager.
Morisset joined the World Bank in 1990 under the Young Professionals Program. Prior to taking up the assignment in Tanzania, Morisset worked for six years with the IFC – the private sector arm of the World bank Group – as lead economist and also served as the World Bank lead economist for Senegal and the Indian Ocean islands, managing lending operations of close to $1 billion.
Morisset holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Geneva and has published in academic journals including the World Bank Economic Review, and the Journal of Development Economics and World Development.
