The World Bank publishes materials (books, serials, and working papers) that are made available through various distribution channels to academia, business, government, the media, World Bank staff, interested individuals, and a host of organizations. The publication of World Bank books, in print and online, is managed by the World Bank Publishing Program (Publishing Program), which coordinates acquisition, editorial production, marketing, and distribution from World Bank headquarters in Washington, D.C. The electronic distribution is managed by the Digital Publishing team (DP team) within the Publishing Program. The distribution to Print on Demand partners is overseen by the Print and Conversion team (PC team) within the editorial production unit.

Due to the different specifications/requirements across the landscape of electronic distribution channels for published content of the World Bank (including, but not limited to, our own World Bank eLibrary, Amazon, Google, IG Publishing, ProQuest, etc.), greater and greater demands are being placed on the e-publishing services performed by the DP.

This solicitation is for conversion and distribution services and work to be performed by a vendor in providing, hosting, and maintaining a Digital Asset Distribution (DAD) service. The vendor will convert and deliver content and metadata to all the Publishing Program’s approximately 15+ distribution channels. This initiative will enhance the productivity of the DP and PC teams within the Publishing Program, and thereby allow it to meet the demand for World Bank content in electronic form and via regional Print on Demand, through existing and future distribution channels.
