Website Description This web site contains information about the Microfinance Regional Workshop for East Asia and the Pacific, which was held in the Philippines in March 2000. The conference was organized by the World Bank Institute and the Foundation for Advanced Studies on International Development (FASID) in Japan. The main purpose of the workshop was to bring together microfinance practitioners, policy makers and bankers from selected countries in East Asia and the Pacific to discuss best practice issues in the design and sustainability of microfinance, determine how to create an enabling environment framework for the sector, and to develop capacity in the sector.
