Network on Jobs and Development

The Network on Jobs and Development is comprised of five research institutions from various regions of the world: Development Policy Research Unit at University of Cape Town (DPRU, South Africa), HKUST Institute for Emerging Market Studies (HKUST IEMS, Hong Kong), Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER, India), Institute for Structural Research (IBS, Poland) and Latin American and Caribbean Economic Association (LACEA).

The Network on Jobs and Development is a partnership financed by the World Bank’s Development Grant Facility and sponsored by the World Bank’s Jobs Group

It is a group of five research institutions from various regions of the world:

  • Development Policy Research Unit at University of Cape Town (South Africa)
  • HKUST Institute for Emerging Market Studies (Hong Kong)
  • Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (India)
  • Institute for Structural Research (IBS, Poland) 
  • Latin American and Caribbean Economic Association (LACEA)  

The goal of the network is to build a vibrant community by providing a comprehensive understanding of the jobs agenda. It has helped:

  • Fill knowledge gaps with innovative, cross-sectoral and multi-disciplinary analyses
  • Support relevant data collection, link researchers and institutions (particularly North-South linkages)
  • Create fellowships and research grants
  • Organize high-level dissemination activities
