The World Bank Group is formulating a new approach to assessing the business and investment climate in economies worldwide following the discontinuation of the Doing Business project. Updates on the development of the new Business Enabling Environment (BEE) project will be published on this website as they become available. In the interim, this website will act as a one-stop shop to spotlight a set of curated indicators and resources for users focused on improving the business environment.
On September 16, 2021, World Bank Group management took the decision to discontinue the Doing Business report. The Doing Business and Subnational Doing Business websites will continue to be publicly available as an archive of knowledge and data.
The World Bank Group is working on a new approach to assessing the business and investment climate. This section presents a compendium of existing indicators of business environment which may be of interest to many users. The new approach to assessing the business environment will aim to complement and fill gaps in these existing indicators.
The new business enabling environment project will not measure the full range of factors that affect an economy’s business environment. These are complementary resources relevant to the business environment that will not be measured by the new project, for example public safety and macroeconomic stability.
