Feature Team Members

Ricardo Martins Maia is an Analyst working on the Financial Services Topic within the Business Ready Unit. He joined the World Bank Group in April 2021. Prior to his current role, Ricardo worked on the Business Entry Topic, where he played a leading role in the conception and methodological development of the topic. Before the launch of Business Ready, he was also part of the teams working on the Starting a Business indicator of the Doing Business project and on the Entrepreneurship Database initiative. Prior to joining the World Bank Group, he gained professional experience across entrepreneurship access promotion, taxation, consulting, project management, and research, working in the private sector, multilateral organizations, and NGOs, including field-based operational assignments. Ricardo holds a Master’s degree in International Development from IE University (Spain) and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Porto (Portugal). He is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, English, and Tetum, and is conversant in French.
